Easter morning was celebrated here with danced prayers of some
Aboriginal friends with bustles and beads and drum beats. If anyone
was looking for new life and rising we could see it in beauty
before us. I am so grateful for the filling of the empty spaces
in my heart that morning; I had been looking for joy after all
the liturgies of faithfulness.
Perhaps now I can revisit the stations of the cross made by parishioners
for Good Friday; the art and the meditations written by the artists
need time to rest more deeply in me - more beauty before us, more
faith and more joy in the appreciation of these gifts.
Easter is a season and not just a day. May we find the joy we
have left behind.

Hi, My name is Monique Stone. I am a
Postulant with the Diocese of Ottawa; basically that means
I'm investigating a call to ordained ministry. As part of
the process individuals participate in a variety of activities
that help form them to take on the role of ordained church
leadership.
One of the key activities is to participate in two 'Internship'
placements in different parish settings. These placements
focus on experiencing the parish environment and taking
on specific liturgical and ministry roles.
Throughout the next eight months St. Michael and All Angels will
be the home of my first 'Internship' placement. I will be participating
in various activities throughout the church. You may see me taking
on a liturgical role or helping out in the Church School.
I will often be joined by my husband Chris and our two children,
Lily and Rory who are also looking forward to joining the St.
Michael and All Angels family ~ even if only for a short while.
Supporting an Intern at a Parish is definitely a commitment for
the host church (and not just because I may not have perfected
my homily skills!). I am thankful to all of you for allowing me
to become part of St. Michael and All Angels. I look forward to
learning from each of you and working together to serve God here
and throughout our communities.
