Web Design Standards
 This
site has been designed to be as accessible as possible while still
containing excellent usability features. To ensure this, we have
designed this entire site using the World Wide Web Consortium
(W3C) standard HTML 4.01 Transitional. This ensures that your
browser should be able to see and use all of the features on our
site, regardless of the type of browser you are using.
The
text and colours on the site are controlled by a Cascading Style
Sheet (CSS), which has also been validated by the W3C and compliant
to current CSS standards. Elements such as the changing of colour
on the links, the size and colour of text, and some background
elements on the page are all controlled by CSS. As the W3C CSS
Standard is not browser vendor specific, this should ensure a
consistent experience across all browser technologies.
Javascript
A limited amount of javascript is used on the site, it is used
simply to display the correct date on each page, displayed to
the right of the page just below the navigation bar.
In addition we also now use small popup messages on links to help
visitors to our site understand what will happen when the link
is clicked. This behaviour relies on two javascripts; one that
detects the browser type, the other that controls the behaviour.
The look and feel of the behaviour is controlled by CSS. This
excellent script was created by Nicholas Hoening and if you would
like to see more, please
visit his page.
Content on the site
All of the content on the St.Michael and All Angels website is
proprietary to St.Michaels including the HTML and CSS components.
We have worked hard on our site and we are proud of this work,
please do not take or attempt to reverse engineer our site or
its components. If you are interested in how we did something,
please send a note to the webmaster.
